We’re preparing to launch our new spring courses at Easter, so here’s a little preview of what’s going to be coming up!
Planning the courses made me think about being creative myself, and how much I used to do – before children, school runs, looking after elderly parents and working (let alone setting up a business) so I took some of my own advice this past weekend and went on a spring wreath making event. It was so much fun! Being creative is good for your soul, and as a middle-aged woman of a certain age, with a mind like a sieve, immersing yourself in a flow activity is soooo good for you. I loved it, and I hope you will love our next set of offerings as much.
So, what’s coming up?
We are sticking to our plan of One Day Workshops, plus some short evenings classes. We’re also going to try a couple of informal Saturday Stitching events, which I’m very excited about.

One Day Workshops
Friday April 14 is our Oil Pastel Picture day. Planning out a picture postcard, learning to blend oil pastels on fabric and then embellishing your picture with hand embroidery, this day promises to be full of calm and zen. We’re teaming up with the fabulous Annie Lupton, from The Lovely Cowshed, to provide our picnic lunches, so you’ll be topped up with goodness in more ways than one.
Saturday April 22 brings our very first Saturday Stitching session, as we make a lovely lampshade to complement your home. Another fab friend, Louise, who is the queen of lampshade making, will be leading the demo on this course, in the morning, followed by a picnic lunch.
We will be repeating and extending this course on Saturday, May 13 with making lampshades in the morning and then after lunch, making a cushion to contrast or complement your shade. Don’t forget, lunch is included for a really creative and restful day.
Weekly Short Courses
If you fancy learning a new skill, on a weekly basis, we also run two evening courses a week – on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, with a different focus on both nights. Tuesday evenings (April 18 – May 23) will focus on Traditional Dress-making skills by making a pair of sidewinder pants and a throw-on top – great for beginners and advanced beginners. We have had quite a few ladies join our past sewing sessions and meet and make new friends, so don’t worry about coming along on your own.
In contrast, Wednesday evenings (April 19 – May 24) will be Introduction to Interiors: Homemaker, when we will make a variety of handmade items for your home, to equip you to learn and improve your sewing skills, whilst making cute additions to your home.
Gift Vouchers
If you’re stuck for a Mothers Day gift, why not give one of our gift vouchers – just email us at hello@beecreativedesigns.org – they can be used towards courses amd workshops as well as bespoke items.
I’d better get going to make my “Here’s one I made earlier” demo samples, in the best Blue Peter style….
See you soon!
